Recording Studio Techniques is an in-depth study of the techniques and methods used to produce mobile recordings and home recordings. A special emphasis will be placed on recording methods and microphone techniques in a modern recording studio environment that can be translated to use in a home studio or live recording. Students will be made aware of the history of recording technology, modern studio techniques, and workflows for tracking in a variety of situations as they pertain to working in a variety of musical genres. Students will also survey the history of recording and recording technologies with a special emphasis on contributions by female presenting people and people of color. After completing this course, students will be able to integrate professional recording techniques and technologies into their creative practices.
